Monopoly Deal Card Game Rules

Monopoly Deal is a fast-paced, card-based version of the classic Monopoly board game. Here’s how to play:

Objective

The goal of Monopoly Deal is to be the first player to collect 3 complete property sets in different colors. A complete property set is formed when you have all the properties of a specific color, which can be achieved through strategic use of cards.

Game Setup

  1. Players: 2 to 5 players.
  2. Deck: The deck contains 110 cards, which include property cards, action cards, money cards, and wild cards.
  3. Starting the Game: Shuffle the deck and deal 5 cards to each player. Place the remaining deck in the center to form the draw pile.

Gameplay

  1. Player Turns:
    • On each turn, a player can play 3 actions (either draw cards, play cards, or perform other actions depending on the cards they have).
    • At the beginning of each turn, draw 2 cards from the draw pile. You can draw from the deck during your turn if you still have actions left.
  2. Playing Cards:
    • Money Cards: These cards are used to pay rent or other actions, and can be played into your personal bank on your turn.
    • Property Cards: These are placed in front of you to build your property sets. You can also use wild cards to complete a set.
    • Action Cards: These cards allow you to perform actions like charging rent, stealing properties, or forcing other players to draw cards. Some key action cards include:
      • Rent Cards: Charge rent on properties based on the properties you have and the color of the rent card you play.
      • Deal Breaker: Steal an entire property set from another player.
      • Sly Deal: Steal a single property from another player.
      • Forced Deal: Swap one of your properties with another player.
      • Debt Collector: Collect rent from another player.
  3. Bank and Properties:
    • Money cards are placed into your bank to pay for rent or other costs.
    • Property cards are placed face-up in front of you to build your property sets. You can use wild cards to complete properties in different colors.
  4. Paying Rent:
    • If another player uses a Rent card, you must pay them rent based on the number of properties you owe them, or you may use a Money card to pay the rent.
  5. Wild Cards:
    • Wild Property Cards allow you to use any color and can be used to complete property sets.
    • You can mix and match wild cards with regular property cards to form complete sets.

Winning the Game

  • First to 3 complete property sets wins: The game ends when a player has successfully collected 3 complete property sets of different colors, and they are declared the winner.

Additional Rules

  1. End of the Game: The game ends immediately when a player collects 3 complete property sets.
  2. No Hidden Cards: All property cards must be visible in front of you, while money and action cards are kept in your bank or hand.
  3. Stealing Properties: Some action cards allow you to steal properties from other players, making it a competitive and strategic game.
